The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of network infrastructure. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training.
Position responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
* Collaborate with department heads to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
* Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
* Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
* Management of virtual/physical assets (ASNs, IP addresses, equipment inventory etc.)
* Testing of new equipment for introduction into the network
Necessary skills:
Good understanding of Ethernet & IP technologies and more specifically
* IPv4/IPv6
* Interconnection, IP traffic routing & switching and aggregation technologies
* Routing: ISIS, BGP, MPLS
* Security: L3VPN, IPSec/SSL VPN
* Layer2: VLAN, STP, LAG, mcLAG
* Service provisioning: PPPoE, IPoE, BRAS/BNG
Necessary qualifications:
* University Degree or equivalent, in Engineering, Computer Science or similar
* Fluency in English
* Related certifications will be considered an asset, especially from Cisco, Huawei, Mikrotik
* Soft skills: problem-solving abilities, effective communication and teamwork are all considered as a must
